What is your passion in ministry?

I am passionate about communicating Christ’s love to people of other cultures. I love teaching about incarnational living and encouraging others to do the same.

What qualities do you bring to your ministry?

My formal studies (degrees in Nutrition, B.Sc., University of Alberta, and Theology M.Div. Cincinnati Bible Seminary, M.Th. New College University of Edinburgh) have enriched my life.

I taught at Alberta Bible College for 7 years before marriage. In 1974 we went to live and work in Cuzco, Peru amongst the Quechua people. Bible translation was the major task next to having three daughters. I taught Bible and did some development work as well. The whole experience was incredibly rich. Later after 3 years in Scotland we returned to South American to Quito, Ecuador. There I did research, taught at the Baptist Seminary and Alliance Academy as well as being a full-time parent.

Returning to Canada in 1995 I began teaching (and still do) part time at ABC in the regular and PACE programs and in ’96 began as half-time Pastor of family Minister at BVCC. In 2002, I became Pastor of World Outreach.

Currently I am learning a lot about cross-cultural communications through our Conversation Club and the coming of the Chinese community to BVCC and through teaching students from various cultures at ABC.

Tell us about your family.

My husband Bill is the Regional Translation Co-ordinator for the Americas for the United Bible Societies and travels a lot in the Americas and some around the world. We have three daughters who share our passion for incarnational ministry: two are doctors, one in Melbourne, Australia, the other in Vancouver. Our youngest daughter does development work in Lima, Peru.

Each of our family members have had opportunities to work in a variety of countries.

How did you get involved with BVCC?

My other interests include writing and photography. I’m a lifetime learner and love to read and study. (I listen to the CBC and read the Globe and Mail).

What quote inspires you?

“I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

~Jesus (John 10:10)

“The glory of God is the human person fully alive.”

~Ireneus
