What is your passion in ministry?

My passion is to to talk with people about God-stuff. I can't beat the feeling in me over coffee talking about spiritual/God stuff in thier life. My second big passion is to see the arts, especially Christ-honouring arts celebrated more. Let's face it, our world looks to art to help them understand the world (even more so than preaching).

What qualities do you bring to your ministry?

I bring a burden for the lost, distracted and confused (sounds like me sometimes) to find their way to God. Also, I am always thinking, how can we communicate this spiritual reality through media? I love to preach and teach, rather, I love to help people learn and "get it."

I have done pastoral work in small and mid-size churches. I have also experience in leading people through forgiveness and reconciliation.

I graduated from Alberta Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious Education and interned with the Calgary Church of Christ. After graduating I worked for an oil & gas company for a year and then went on to seminary for 4 years in Tennessee and received a Masters of Divinity degree. I pastored in Saltville, Virginia for 2 1/2 years and in Taber, Alberta for one year.

Most of my hobbies focus on creating art — be it web deign, graphic art, or video. This year we are trying cross-country skiing as a family.

Tell us about your family.

My lovely wife and I have been married since 1996. We have three daughters: Skye, Sierra and Rebecca. My wife has been a huge support to my ministry.

How did you get involved with BVCC?

While working in Lethbridge and pastoring in Taber, I was invited to share where I was at concerning church planting. By the end of the visit I was encouraged to bring that dream to BVCC while being their Pastor of Family Ministries (Youth). Now I am one of the Associate Pastors focusing on community outreach and multi-media. The dream it still there, but I am pouring all that I have into my current role. Be have been at Bow Valley since 2002.

What quote inspires you?

“‘Safe?’ said Mr. Beaver… ‘Who said anything about safe? ’Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.’”

~The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis

There is no revenge so complete as forgiveness.

~Josh Billings

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you.

~Lewis Smedes
