What is your passion in ministry?

My heart and passion of ministry is to serve Mandarin-speaking people, and to lead them to the truth. God has gifted me with the ability to speak, to listen, to love, and to teach. The truth of the Word of God is essential, life changing, aids in spiritual growth, and transforming in becoming Jesus’ disciples.

What qualities do you bring to your ministry?

I grew up in Hong Kong in a big atheistic family with nine children. Due to the poverty and uneducated situation, we knew nothing about love among us. I did not know how to care of my parents and love my siblings before my conversion. However, God revealed Himself to me. I became the first Christian in our family and learned how to care and love them. My friend led me to faith in Christ when I was 18. I dedicated myself to Him in 1981 and God led us into ministry in 2002. My life journey helps and develops my pastoral skill to serve Him better.

I studied in Taiwan with engineering background from 1985-1989. Later, I graduated from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and The Canadian Theological Seminary in Pastoral Ministry

Tell us about your family.

My wife Simmy, the one I love, who has been married to me since 1993. She’s a “house wife” who takes care of our children and me for more than fourteen years. God has been blessed us with three wonderful children: Rachel, Michelle, and Samuel. Rachel, our oldest, is starting 9th grade this year. Michelle cares deeply for others, and Samuel is the learner so far.

How did you get involved with BVCC?

I started to know BVCC through Pastor Ken Law. We came to join the staff of BVCC with God’s timing and schedule in July of 2009.

What quote inspires you?

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for my household, and me we will serve the Lord.

~ Joshua 24:15

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

~ Proverbs 4:23
