What is your passion in ministry? |
My desire is to make Spiritual Formation in our congregation vital and not optional. I want to see people growing in Christ. I envision numerous outcomes of individual members who take seriously the goal of personal spiritual growth. I also have two other ministry passions. I teach occasionally and assist in church planting endeavors whenever and however I can. |
What qualities do you bring to your ministry? |
I am wired to be a teacher and an administrator. For 24 years I served at Alberta Bible College in both capacities. My spiritual gift mix always includes teaching, organizing and leadership qualities. I also love humor…. I have graduated from Alberta Bible College, the University of Calgary (twice) and Regent College. I also studied with the University of South Africa in a doctoral program. My primary areas of research have been biblical studies, spirituality and education. |
Tell us about your family. |
Becky and I have been married for 34 years. We have three young adult daughters (Anna, Katie and Jennie). There are two marriages but no grandchildren. Alas. I have been fighting multiple myeloma for 7 ½ years. This is a non-curable cancer of the bone marrow. That I am here and active is a testimony to God’s gift of medicine and the prayers of his people. |
How did you get involved with BVCC? |
I attended BVCC (then Cambrian Heights) while studying at Alberta Bible College and the UofC. Bec and I went east to pastor in PEI for eight years and upon returning attended Cambrian once again. We left once more for four or five years to help a new church plant. In 1992-93 we returned again. I became an elder in the mid 90s. My part-time role at BVCC in Spiritual Formation began in September of 2008. |
What quote inspires you? |
"We have to conquer our apprehension that what we wish and pray for might perhaps not happen after all." "Beware in your prayer, above everything, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do." |
