What is your passion in ministry?

My passion is to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Chinese people in Calgary, and ultimately around the world, so that they may enjoy the fulfilling life that God has promised to each believer.

What qualities do you bring to your ministry?

As I look back to my past, I am amazed at how God planned every step of my life according to His sovereign will, leading to exactly where I find myself now!

Since I became a believer in my junior high years, I have spent about 20 years in English-speaking churches, and another 20 years in Chinese churches. I led the planting of 2 Chinese churches in Calgary. As well, I served as an elder in 2 English-speaking churches for over ten years. I was also the Chairperson of Child Evangelism Fellowship (Alberta) for a number of years.

Before I became a pastor, I worked as an engineering department manager for an oil company. The combination of my spiritual and secular experience shaped the development of my pastoral and  leadership skills.

In addition to my secular academic training, I graduated from Liberty Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Religion. I am presently pursuing a PHD degree in Ministry Leadership.

Tell us about your family.

My wife Vania and I have been married for just over 30 years. She has been my indispensable partner in ministry! Vania presently volunteers much of her time and energy in furthering God’s work at BVCC. God has blessed us with one son and one daughter who love the Lord.  Our son Clement has been working with a local oil company since he graduated from University of Calgary in Communication several years ago. Our daughter Niki is working in London, UK, since she completed her Master study in Law last year from the University College London.

How did you get involved with BVCC?

I first came to BVCC in 1993 when my family moved to the NW sector of the city.  God called me away to serve other congregations from 1996 to 2003.

In 2003, I planned with the leadership of BVCC to begin a Chinese ministry in this church. In 2005, I resigned from my secular employment to become a pastor with BVCC.

What quote inspires you?

There are many. But one quote that stays with me all the time is:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

~Jesus Christ (Gospel of John 14:6)
