What is your passion in ministry? |
My passion is to retire early and to devote the rest of my life to bring people to Christ and to help them to grow spiritually and become Jesus’ disciples. |
What qualities do you bring to your ministry? |
I have been a Christian for 48 years. Since immigrating to Canada in 1973, I have been actively involved in various church ministries. My services include fellowship activities, Sunday school teaching, music ministries (choir) and visitations. Born in Hong Kong, I studied in the USA, Italy and West Germany and graduated from Brown University with a Ph.D. degree in Physics. I have worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years and in many foreign countries like Libya, Venezuela, France and UK. I have also taught at McGill and Ambrose universities. My secular and spiritual experiences help me to develop my pastoral and leadership skills. |
Tell us about your family. |
My wife Marian and I have been married for 35 years. She has been my wonderful partner in ministry. She has many gifts from God and that include music/choral singing, teaching and caring. She presently volunteers much of her time and energy in the Chinese ministry at BVCC. We have one daughter and one son, both working in Alberta. |
How did you get involved with BVCC? |
I first came to BVCC around Christmas 2006. Our goal at that time was to improve our Mandarin so that we can serve the Lord more effectively. During the past one and a half year, God gave us the opportunity to get involved in BVCC’s Chinese ministry (e.g., fellowship, music ministry, learning centre and preaching). We felt very much at home and accepted by the Chinese brothers and sisters. |
What quote inspires you? |
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” (Col. 3:23). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” (Phil. 4:13). “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will listen to you.” (Jer. 29:11-12). |
