What is your passion in ministry?

My passion is to lead a church that is rapidly reaching into the community with the good news of Jesus Christ and joyously incorporating seekers and new believers into biblical community; all-the-while strategically planting new communities of like-minded believers!

What qualities do you bring to your ministry?

I believe that God has graced me with leadership gifts and I have had the rather unusual opportunity to serve this one congregation for more than 30 years. Our journey together, is therefore, rather unique and has shaped both of us significantly. Their patience and love for me has influenced my perspective and gives me insight, understanding, and encouragement as we journey together!

I graduated from Alberta Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious Education and interned with BVCC during my last two years of college. I continue to work intermittently on my Masters degree at Regent College and my pastoral experience has been completely wrapped up with this congregation.

Tell us about your family.

My wife Debbie and I have been married more than 30 years now and she has been a great partner in ministry! She is a Realtor with a passion to share Jesus with everyone she meets.

God has blessed us with 3 sons...who in turn have blessed us with 3 lovely daughters-in-law and now together they are beginning to make us Grandparents! Kelly and Sarrah have two daughters and are currently helping to plant a network of house churches in downtown Vancouver. Ryan and Jani are here in Calgary and Ryan is a professor at Alberta Bible College while Jani continues her education at Ambrose University. Lane and Chantelle are exiles in the east. Lane is working on his Master's degree at Wycliffe Seminary and he and Chantelle are enjoying their time in Toronto.

How did you get involved with BVCC?

I started here as a janitor during my first year at Alberta Bible College. I became an intern during my third year of college and was hired as an Associate Pastor upon graduation in 1975.

15 years ago I was invited to assume the role of Senior Pastor. I love the church, I love the ministry and I consider it a privilege to be given the opportunity to use my leadership gifts in this part of God's Kingdom!

What quote inspires you?

I enjoy all kinds of leadership quotes and some “off-the-wall” media sound bytes. But by far, the most inspirational quotes jump off the pages of God’s word.
Ephesians 3:20 always inspires me.

“Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.”
