History
We are a non-denominational, independent Christian church whose history is rooted in the Restoration Movement. We began as a congregation in 1928, located in the Tuxedo Park area of Calgary. Since then, we existed as Cambrian Heights Church of Christ on Northmount Drive, NW until 1991 when we sold our building and became Bow Valley Christian Church. The building here on 53rd Avenue was purchased in January of 1993.
From 1973 until the summer of 1995, Allan Dunbar served as the Senior Pastor of our congregation. During his leadership the congregation grew and developed a Canada-wide ministry with the television program, “To You…With Love.” An emphasis on evangelism and a willingness to work with other congregations here in the city marked Allan's ministry in Calgary.
In July of 1995, Rick Scruggs became our Senior Pastor. He has worked as an associate with Allan for the past twenty years and therefore, brings with him a wealth of understanding related to the congregation and our goals in ministry. He is committed to developing a strong team of leadership, that includes both the staff and willing lay leaders.
