What these Spiritual Gifts inventories can do for you:
-You can learn what some have called your motivational gifts might be. For example, everybody seems to have at least one of the gifts listed in Romans 12:6-8. One of the inventories (by Elmer Towns) deals only with the Romans list. You can learn what some of the gifts are that you definitely do not have based on low scores in those areas. You can have your appetite whetted to go deeper.
-The results about any spiritual giftedness are not final, so don't get discouraged with them. You are a growing believer in a growing church. Your ability to serve Christ can grow. This means you can develop your spiritual gifts, especially when there is a desire to do better. Until you know your limitations, you won't accurately know yourself nor will you accurately take this test. When you get ready to interpret your abilities, notice your two or three strongest gifts. This is your Gift Mix. Don't look for just your strongest gift; study how one gift relates to the other. Remember, God's plan is to "use you", where you are usable. This Questionnaire only has 35 questions and is produced by Ministry Tools. It will help you discover where you are most usable. When you know your gift, then place yourself at God's disposal to be used by Him.
-Another of the spiritual gifts evaluations (produced by Church Growth) covers the nine task-oriented gifts used in daily life to do the work of Christian ministry (it's the longest questionnaire @ 4 pages). Every Christian has a dominant gift and many possess more than one. Through analysis, you will find out in which areas you are "less" gifted and will also discover your dominant task-oriented gift. You can then begin to concentrate on further developing your dominant gift as you exercise it in daily life and in your local church ministry.
These inventories are free. I suggest that you do at least two to compare your gift mixes and see where there is overlap. I am willing to sit down to discuss and completed inventory and help you go deeper.
